Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s essay, The Death of the Moth, this book presents the text in a publication inspired by the moth. The fuzzy natural paper of the cover and end pages emulates the hairy wings of moths. Even the inside pages seem to have specks of fluff embedded in their fibres.
I also took inspiration from the Adhemarius ypsilon moth, which gets its name from its “Y” shaped wings and body. Note the formation of the Japanese binding technique, and the y’s of the text highlighted by moth-made...or hand-made...cutouts.
